Tyler Christian Ellis, a 27 year old man from Newark, was pulled over after police caught him speeding along Interstate 80 going westbound. The traffic stop was set up in Stroudsburg in Monroe County. Ellis was pulled over a little after 1 AM in the morning on Thursday, June 31.
According to the police responsible for pulling Ellis over, they suspected that he was involved in some kind of “criminal activity” and asked to search his vehicle. Ellis allegedly consented to the search. Upon searching the vehicle, the police discovered that Ellis was in possession of a total of eighteen different driver’s licenses from seven different states, and fifteen of them depicted Ellis’s photograph on them. The three other licenses, designed to be from two different states, all featured an image of the same woman on them. Police also found a small amount of marijuana in the car.
As a result of the discovery, the police charged Ellis with eighteen counts of forgery, tampering with identification, identity theft, and possession of instruments of crime. Ellis was put in the Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of a $50,000 bail.
